Thyroid elastography is an ultrasonographic technique to evaluate the stiffness
of a thyroid nodule as an indicator of whether it is benign or malignant.
Based on the assumption that malignant nodules are stiffer than benign
lesions, a recent study from the University of Washington showed that
this technique can reduce the need for a biopsy by 53%!!!
THE THYROID INSTITUTE OF UTAH JUST ACQUIRED THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY AND WILL
BE USING IT IN A MATTER OF A FEW WEEKS!
